On September 14th, Mr. Yuan Yongze led 12 people to Wuhan Aquatic Products Testing Center to familiarize themselves with the internship site. It is located near Huazhong Agricultural University, where my classmates and I began the internship tour. During the internship, we have learned not only professional operating skills, but also the attitude towards our own work----a passionate, serious, and responsible attitude, which is admired by the times.
After the docking of various affairs, the internship began. Although the internship has started for some time, instructor Zhu’s speech at the internship meeting still impressed me: "Students’ coming here to practice is not only to learn professional knowledge, more importantly, but to cultivate your attitude towards work. All of you here will embark on different jobs in the future, and you may need to use different professional knowledge, but the serious and responsible attitude towards work is required by all positions. " After a short internship meeting, we started our intense internship. Mr. Tong who works in the aquiculture department led me to perform experiments. He was mainly testing the malachite green in the aquatic products. " Malachite green is a compound included in the list of drugs which are banned from using in food and animals by the nation, which will cause cancer if it is eaten. " Mr. Tong told me the importance of this test before the experiment, "we must be careful as possible as we can in the test." Then Mr. Tong began to introduce the experimental principles, steps and experimental instruments. I had never operated these instruments required for the experiments before, or even had never seen. For the first time, it was very difficult for me to master these in a short period of time. So what I could do was to follow the teacher step by step and operate little by little.
During the experiment, Mr. Tong patiently told me how to operate, how to use the instrument, and what the principle of the experiment was. In the course of a few days of experiments, I have learned the detection method of testing malachite green in aquatic food, which can be roughly divided into the following steps: take 5g meat samples, add alumina to absorb oil and then add acetylene to make coarse extraction of malachite green , add malachite green, and then use acetylene to extract meat samples, repeat the above operation three times. "We repeated the extraction for the purpose of extracting all malachite green to ensure the accuracy of the results. Don't consider it complicated, for this is necessary for us to make accurate measurements. "Mr. Tong told us this each time he performed an experiment, telling us to be patient and do it step by step.
After performing experiments for a week, I gradually mastered the malachite green test method and was able to complete the whole experiment in a coherent way. But after all, it has not been a long time since I began to learn the malachite green test experiment, so in course of the experiment, experimental operation irregularities or operational errors were unavoidable. Every time I did experiment the teacher would point out my operation problems and teach me how to operate properly in person. What our teacher always said was: "Only if each step is done carefully, the final result can be true and accurate." "I am a biology major myself so I understand the importance of accurate experimental operation. Every time I could take advice from my teacher and pay attention to these steps in future experiments.
During the two-week internship, I have learned a lot of expertise and been able to perform the malachite green test. Although it took a long time each time I performed test experiments and the operation steps were complicated, each time an experiment ended up with an accurate and standard liquid chromatography curve, I failed to express the joy in my heart in words. My biggest gain during the past two weeks was the meticulous attitude towards work and the craftsmanship spirit running through all my work. In the following days, I will carry out this spirit in my own study and life, and look forward to learning more knowledge in the future internship.
