On the afternoon of November 28, the lecture contest of “Live heart to heart, Fight shoulder to shoulder” was held by School of Foreign Languages at Room 3218. Aimed at showing the Chinese power in the present world and confirming the responsibilities that teens ought to shoulder, the contest invited Zhang Jinhang, Zhang Qi, and Qiuling as its judges.

The contest was mainly divided into two parts: giving lectures respectively in a free style and a conscious style. 12 of the participants who had been elected from the preliminary contest would take turns to show themselves. In the first part of the final contest, the participants showed their own views of “live heart to heart, fight shoulder to shoulder” in a wide variety of ways. The second group made up of Zhu Xuan and Li Junhao, showed the anti-epidemic spirits of Chinese people, ranging from the young nursing volunteers to the old engineering Party members. As for the twelfth participant majoring in Japanese, Li Junhao introduced the topic from a normal mask in his hands, telling the spirit of community with a shared future for mankind through the story of China and Japan, conveying the truth that while mountains and rivers separate us, we enjoy the same moonlight under the same sky.

Among all of the competitors, Bu Congying, a student from the School of History and Culture, created a unique way to tell the experience between her students and herself during the online teaching in the epidemic time. At the beginning, she said frankly that as a normal student, she didn’t know what to do as well at such an emergent time. Finally, she chose to help the poor students to continue their study by online teaching. From panicked about the completely new way of teaching to making progress together with those cute students, she learnt a lot. Last but not least, she appealed to all the students present at the contest that they should all conduct their duties at this emergent time, wining a warm blow of applause.

After drawing lots at the scene, the part of random lecture began. The competitors used all their knowledge to provide the audience with a wonderful contest. As the assistant of Foreign Student Office, the No.8 competitor Zhang Dujuan conveyed the story of a Malaysian student who comforted his homesick friend by saying:“Don’t worry, we are in China! It was such a simple line, but it delivered the deep meaning that love and hope spread more quickly than virus.

After all the parts of the contest came the comments of the judges. Firstly, both of the judges described their high praise for all the competitors. Then, Zhang Qi gave some instructions on how to improve the lecture level in a technical way. She emphasized that not only does giving lecture contain “telling”, it also contains “acting”, so competitors should pay equal attention to their expression during the lectures. As for Zhang Jinhang, he pointed out that competitors should pay more attention to their pronunciation and combine their works with the background of the time.

After the final evaluations, results came that Yin Qiyue, Li Junhao, Ma Lishun and Lv Chengyao won the honorable prize, Yang Weiling, Zhang Dujuan, Yang Liyuan won the second prize, and the first prize belonged to Bu Congying. Up to then, the contest with the topic of “Live heart to heart, Fight shoulder to shoulder” came to an end. Combining the significant spirits of President Xi and the idea of a community with shared future for humanity, this contest built a mental bridge among different people, and made the students of CCNU have a deeper understanding of the duties they ought to shoulder.
