On September 10th, the celebration and recognition conference on Teachers' Day in 2021 was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of the Science Hall. All school leaders, representatives of major guests of honor and awards, representatives of talent plan finalists, representatives of faculty and staff who have been teaching for 30 or 40 years, representatives of emeritus faculty and staff, new teachers in 2021, and principals of each department attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Li Hongfei, vice president of CCNU.
The conference began with the grand national anthem. Hao Fanghua, president of CCNU reported the achievements of the university in the past year, paying high tribute to the faculty who were on duty or retired, extending a sincere welcome to the new young teachers, and expressing heartfelt thanks to all alumni and people from all walks of life who care and support the development of CCNU. Combining the spirit of the National Teachers' Development Conference and the theme of Teachers' Day, she also presented four suggestions on how to better persist the century-long original aspiration and shoulder the responsibility for cultivating students: to take ideals and beliefs as the root and motivate students to contribute to the motherland; to take the noble ethics as the soul and to help students temper character; take the solid knowledge as the foundation and encourage students to learn and innovate; take benevolence as the core and promote students to grow healthily.
The conference honored 81 teachers who had been teaching for 30 years, 38 teachers who had been teaching for 40 years, and 84 emeritus teachers. Representatives of new faculty and staff presented flowers on stage in honor of the retired faculty and staff, and were presented with school badges by the retired faculty and staff. The meeting also recognize the 2020 "principal award" winners, winners of “young teachers in colleges and universities teaching contest”, winners of “May 1 labor medal”, the first prize winners of excellent achievements in humanities and social science of colleges and universities and the science and technology prize in Hubei province, the winners of excellent achievements in humanities and social science of Ministry of Education in Hubei province, and the finalists of the national talent project. At the meeting, all the new teachers took a solemn oath under the leadership of She Nengfang, a teacher. Professor Zhou Hongyu and Professor Shu Chao, presentative of new teachers, gave speeches respectively.
Zhao Lingyun, secretary of the Party Committee of the university, pointed out that education was the cause of building the future, teachers were the torch to light up the ideal, the university undertook the mission of cultivating excellent teachers, future teachers and great teachers for the country's basic education. Zhao Lingyun stressed that the history had entrusted us with a great and arduous mission, and the new era had called us to write a magnificent and brand new chapter. He hoped that all teachers should remember the original aspiration of education, take on the mission of educating people, and be good dream constructors for students; achieve two regression: concentrate on teaching and scientific research, improve the ability of education; carry forward the spirit of "great love", enhance the sense of "ownership", create value in life through responsibility, contribute to the realization of the "Chinese dream" of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and strive for the realization of the "ideal" of CCNU to be a world-class university leading in teacher education.
The conference ended with the passionate school song of CCNU. During the Teachers' Day, the university also created an atmosphere and enhanced the culture of respecting teachers through a series of activities such as lighting for teachers, holding teachers' forums, visiting and consoling teachers, one-day free activities and so on.
