The Voice of CCNU To deliver warm-hearted education and celebrate International Women's Day, while deepening the innovative integration of aesthetic education and mental health initiatives, the Psychological Association of Central China Normal University hosted the 21st session of "Heart Power·Happiness Night School" – an "Emotional Doodle" psychological group counseling activity on the evening of March 7th at the Flow Space of the One-Stop Student Community Service Center (East Building 18). Co-facilitated by Jiang Fengcheng, Vice President of the Psychological Association and a peer mentor of the Heart Power program, the event engaged 8 participants from across the university.
The session began with Jiang guiding participants to select colored pens symbolizing their emotional states, encouraging free expression through lines and shapes on paper. One participant reflected, "Doodling revealed that seemingly conflicting emotions coexist like tidal waves – harmonious yet dynamic." Through emotional painting and creative sharing, members used art as a medium to articulate life’s pressures and joys. During interactive exchanges, participants swapped doodle cards carrying mutual blessings. "Discovering shared struggles through listening became the greatest solace," remarked another attendee, as intertwined brushstrokes in the serene environment illustrated the wisdom of "resilient coexistence" in personal growth.
Post-event feedback highlighted participants’ experiences of stress relief and enhanced emotional clarity. The Emotional Doodle workshop, part of the aesthetic education series "Healing Through Beauty," employs artistic creation to help individuals perceive and capture beauty, thereby activating its therapeutic potential for emotional well-being.
