At 2:30 PM on March 15, the the School of Marxism successfully held the 44th "Afternoon Tea with Class Tutors" event in Room 101, North Building of the Liberal Arts Research Building. Professor Liu Peidong from the School of Marxism attended the event, along with students from the 2023 and 2024 classes majoring in Ideological and Political Education and Marxist Theory. Bu Xiangning, a member of the Truth-Seeking Learning and Development Center, hosted the event.

Professor Liu Peidong engaged in a warm conversation with the students, offering insightful advice on their academic lives, future development, and other concerns.

Addressing students’ questions about English learning methods and their interest in diplomacy and international politics, Professor Liu provided targeted guidance. Building on the student’s interest, he suggested reading English journals on international relations to combine language learning with theoretical knowledge. To encourage the student, Professor Liu gifted them a book called The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order.

For students struggling with little writing despite extensive reading and the confusion of writing logic, Professor Liu advised starting with short reflections or essays to build momentum. Besides, he emphasized the importance of logical writing and used The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order as an example, pointing out the need for personal arguments and the grounded evidence, which provided significant inspiration to the students.

When asked about postgraduate entrance exam strategies, Professor Liu kindly explained, "In your expressions, you need academic rigor and make it accessible." Regarding the differences between domestic and international education models, he cautioned against binary judgments like "right or wrong" or "good or bad."

Additionally, Professor Liu addressed questions about whether teacher-training students should study abroad and shared insights on subject-specific learning. In the end, he encouraged students to cherish their time, strive for their goals, and treat others with kindness.

With that, the 44th "Afternoon Tea with Class Tutors" event came to a successful conclusion. Gratitude was extended to Professor Liu Peidong for his sincere and thoughtful advice, as well as to the students for their active participation. It is believed that this event has helped dispel doubts and solidify directions. Looking forward to the next wonderful gathering!
