In the vast universe, everything seems to be a drop of water in the ocean. Among all of these drips, there is a special one, the earth.
在浩瀚的宇宙中，一切事物都如同大海中的一滴水，其中，有“一滴水”很特殊，它就是地球。
Believed to be about 4.6 billion years old, it is some 149,600,000 km from the Sun. It orbits the Sun at a speed of 29.8 km per second, making one complete revolution in 365.25 days. Its total surface area is roughly 509,600,000 sq km, of which about 29% is land. Earth's atmosphere consists of a mixture of gases, chiefly nitrogen and oxygen, and its surface is traditionally subdivided into seven continental masses: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. These continents are surrounded by the so-called World Ocean, which is broken down into three major bodies: the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. All those characteristics make earth a proper place for human to live on. And it is the existence of human that makes the earth a special planet.
地球存在的历史高达46亿，它距离太阳有149,600,000千米，每秒绕太阳运动29.8千米，周期为365.25天。地球的表面积高达509,600,000平方千米，其中百分之29.8为陆地。地球的大气由以氮气和氧气为主的各种气体混合构成。所有这些特点使地球成为了适合人类生存的地方。而有人类的存在也正是它的独特之处。
Trough the long history, the relationships between human and earth have been quite changeable. Let’s compare this relationship to the relationships between mother and her children. When the children were just kids, mother nature regulated their behavior and raised it up, providing rich resources for them. Time past quickly, the kids became teenagers, they were no longer willing to be ruled by Mother Nature. They cut down the forests, they polluted the sea waters, they discharged dirty air into the atmosphere. They became increasingly stronger with cost of Mother Nature’s health. Flood, drought, tsunami and era, numberless disasters struck the world one after another. Black smoke enveloped Mother Earth, overspreading the beautiful blue. Luckily, human quickly recognized the danger. They have begun to restore the fragile ecosystem. They improved the technology of production, enhancing the efficiency greatly; they planted trees and plants, gradually calling the lost animals back and adjusting the climate; they sought for cooperation, building one after another international organizations concerning environmental protection.
在漫长的历史中，人类和地球的关系是不断变化着的。让我们把它们之间的关系比作母子。当孩子尚处于童年时期时，地球母亲尚有余力规范他们的行为并供养他们长大，为他们提供丰富的资源。但随着时间的流逝，进入青春期，他们不愿再被母亲管束。他们肆意砍倒一片片的森林，污染海洋，排放大量废气等等。在消耗地球母亲的同时，他们也逐渐强大起来，愈发肆无忌惮。干旱、涝灾、海啸等等，无数的自然灾害一个接一个地找上门来。一时间，这个美丽而独特的蓝色星球被乌烟笼罩。好在人类马上认识到了自己的错误。他们开始修复脆弱的生态系统，提高生产效率，植树造林……招回了迷失的动物，调节了气候，也通过寻求国际合作建立了一个个国际环保组织。

People always yearn for light and hate darkness. If one day the world is completely destroyed by us, then people will have nothing to yearn for, let alone light, and it is the end of the world. Please think about it, if one day we have no water to drink, no food to eat, no clothes to wear, and no material conditions to survive from the earth. Can human beings survive?
