The Voice of CCNU On December 1st, the activity of 2020 of the School of Mathematics and Statistics under the theme of “sending warmth in winter” was successfully held in the meeting room on the second floor of building 6 at noon. Tian Jun, Deputy Party Secretary of 、the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Wang Aolin and Wang Mingxin, counselors of grade 2017, Xie Dingyi and Chen Jinhui, counselors of grade 2018, Li Hui and Zhang Zigui, counselors of grade 2019 as well as Zhang Luyang, counselor of grade 2020 attended the activity as honored guests. Among them, Zhang Zigui served as the host. Students from different grades who received financial support also participated in the activity.
The activity under the theme of “sending warmth in winter” was the concrete manifestation of School of Mathematics and Statistics to carry out school’s financial support policy. The purpose of the activity was to send warmth to students who indeed needed help through self-registration and investigations together with difficulty identification by counselors. The activity subsidized students mainly by giving out coupons which met the discrepant needs of students who needed to be subsidized and enabled them to buy necessary thermal products in the market on campus according to their actual situations.
The activity preluded its contents with the cordial greeting of Zhang Zigui. Firstly, she introduced, “The activity under the theme of ‘sending warmth in winter’ is the fixed financial support program organized by School of Mathematics and Statistics in December every year which is attached great importance by the leaders of the school. We hope that the activity can really offer help to students and bring warmth to everyone in the cold winter.” Then, counselors of different grades went onto the platform in turn to give out the coupons to students of each grade who needed to be subsidized. After ensuring that every student on the spot received the coupons, Zhang Zigui detailedly introduced three notes of using the coupons. Firstly, ensure to use the coupons within the appointed time. Secondly, the coupons were only for buying thermal products. Thirdly, the coupons could only be used for once and no change was allowed.
At the end of the activity, Tian Jun pointed out,“If you encounter any difficulty in the future, don’t blindly adopt unreasonable methods to solve it, instead, you are supposed to communicate with counselors in time to seek help.” In addition, she expressed the concern and encouragement from school to students who were funded. “Although the situation of each student is different, school will spare no effort to help everyone to get through the hard time. Also, students should learn to be self-reliant from difficulties and keep an optimistic attitude to the pressure of life and study. I hope that everyone can forge ahead with the warmth in winter.”
After the activity, student Yang Liping of grade 2020 said in the interview, “The activity injected a sense of warmth into my heart. I will try my best to overcome the difficulties in my future life, take the correct attitude, be positive as well as ambitious and put more energy into my studies to live up to the expectation of school.”
The activity under the theme of “sending warmth in the winter” was the tradition insisted by the School of Mathematics and Statistics which aimed to offer help to the needy students. In addition, the activity highlighted the harmonious atmosphere of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, reflected the care for students from the school and made students who stayed in foreign province feel at home.
