On the evening of November 29, the lecture entitled "The First Labor Theory Class for Undergraduates of Grade 2020 of CCNU" was launched at the studio on the sixth floor of Building 9. Zhao Lingyun, party secretary of the university, was the keynote speaker, and Peng Shuangjie, vice-principal of CCNU was the host.
At the beginning of the course, Zhao Lingyun, party secretary of the university, guided the students to learn more about the spirit of model workers remarked by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at a gathering to honor model workers and exemplary individuals on November 24, interpreting in detail the relevant documents on labor education issued by General Office of the State Council and the Ministry of Education and emphasizing the labor education as an important part of the morality education in the university. He put forward the opinion that students should set up the concept of labor and regard the labor as the irreplaceable way to grow and create happiness. Next, Zhao Lingyun, party secretary of CCNU, delivered a wonderful speech from three aspects: "work is one's bounden duty", "work is the foundation of one's life" and "work makes one's dream come true".
Work is one's bounden duty. Secretary Zhao Lingyun explained to the students the significant content of Marxist view of labor in a simple but profound way. He pointed out that labor is a purposeful activity of human beings, developing the capabilities of using hands, languages and human brains as well as helping with the advancement of human beings. Labor is the expenditure of physical and mental strength of laborers and the creative process of material and spiritual wealth. Additionally, labor is the basis of social progress, promoting the advancement of productive forces and the all-round development of people. Labor is also a way of expression and proof as a human being. Consequently, everyone must bear the duty of labor in our whole life and take labor as a kind of lifestyle.
Work is the foundation of one's life. Secretary Zhao Lingyun stressed that students were supposed to not only advocate labor and respect laborers, but also look upon labor as the foundation of their lives. Labor determines one's world view, values, and the outlook on life, happiness, career, time, wealth, consumption, learning and self. Then, he attached great importance to labor and labor education which play a particularly important role in the process of talent growth and education. He said that labor shapes people's spiritual outlook and has the status of being the foundation of one person. As moral education develops the soul, intellectual education develops the mind, physical education develops the energy, aesthetic education develops the feeling and labor education develops the body, labor is the base of the five aspects of education.
Work makes the dream come true. Secretary Zhao Lingyun encouraged the students to establish a sense of work and take work as the foundation of their lives, relying on work to build and realize their dreams. He told students that they should advocate work, respect laborers, learn the spirit of model workers, arm their minds with the Marxist concept of labor and apply the spirit of CCNU to the practice of study and work through working. In addition, students must establish the correct labor view, the labor spirit and the labor attitude, dedicating to the labor practice to build themselves and create happiness and fulfillment!
Finally, Peng Shuangjie, vice president of CCNU, made a brief summary. He hoped that the students could seriously digest the content of this lecture and adhere to the work throughout the four years of the university life and study, developing working habits, practicing working skills, cultivating the spirit of work, and actively participating in various work practices to achieve personal dreams and contribute to the "Chinese Dream".
It is reported that the labor theory classes of undergraduates of Grade 2020 of CCNU consist of two centralized classes taught by the university and two separate classes taught by the college. Relevant labor practice courses will be offered to students successively. This lecture is the first lecture of labor theory course and is mainly taught to all undergraduates of Grade 2020. This time offline teaching and online live broadcast were both adopted. The students attending offline lectures were mainly undergraduates of Grade 2020 of the School of Sociology, while the rest of them watch the live broadcast.
