On the evening of March 20th, the sixth scientific research sharing session on mathematics education of Mingde club was successfully held in Room 6301 of the building of School of Mathematics and Statistics. Aimed at helping members of the Mingde club understand tips of the declaration of academic issues on education, putting forward problems and solutions when participating in scientific research projects, and sharing personal experience of scientific research and the scientific payoffs, the sharing session invited Zeng Xinyang, who was the awarded student of the 2020 national scholarship, the gold medal of the “Internet +” entrepreneurship competition for college students, the title of “Merit Student of CCNU” and the activist of scientific and technological innovation, as the keynote speaker. Song Shuai, president of Mingde club, other board members and members of the sixth Mingde club attended this sharing session.

At the beginning of the session, Song Shuai introduced Zeng Xinyang, the keynote speaker, to the participants, and said, “Zeng Xinyang has rich experience in scientific research and award-winning. As a result, I firmly believe that you will learn a lot after listening to his sharing.” Then Zeng Xinyang delivered his sharing speech about scientific research on mathematics education which composed of three parts: “basic information”, “declaration of issues” and “paper writing”. First of all, Zeng Xinyang introduced the basic information of scientific research, showed the relevant mathematical journals, and attached great importance to reading valuable journals. He said, “Undergraduates should carefully study the methods and approaches of how to consult journals and how to submit articles to journals, so as to be prepared for a rainy day.” Then Zeng Xinyang showed some specific ways to participate in the scientific research, recommending three types of the scientific research on education: “experience summary”, “investigation and research” and “content analysis”.

As for the declaration of academic issues, Zeng Xinyang focused on two questions: “how to choose the topic” and “how to write the application”. He stressed that undergraduates should not choose topics that were beyond their reach, but should adapt the topics to their own abilities, and ensuered the topics have academic values or application values. After that, he explained the declaration methods in detail. He said, “The issue should focus on the theoretical basis, integrating all aspects of the literature information and getting rid of the fuzzy statement language. Additionally, the content of the research must be embodied, combining the theoretical and practical significance, and finally, the content should include the technology roadmap.” In terms of paper writing, Zeng Xinyang said that in paper writing, we must pay attention to the standardization of citation, and meet the three requirements of “complete and compact structure”, “rigorous demonstration science” and “clear and concise language”. Later, he presented several excellent papers as examples, and shared his research experience and scientific payoffs.
At the end of the sharing session, Zeng Xinyang answered the question of “how freshmen should integrate into the scientific research on mathematics education”, which was asked by a member of the club. “Freshmen should go to the library to consult relevant literature information, feel the scientific atmosphere, communicate more with their teachers, and familiarize themselves with the use of survey software after class, so as to lay a solid foundation for the future research on mathematics education," he said. At this point, the sharing session on mathematics education successfully ended.
