At 9:30 a.m. on June 21, Professor Ye Xiaobing from the School of History of Capital Normal University delivered a lecture on the theme of "how to teach history well in the middle school——problems should be paid attention to in the design of history teaching from cases" for the 2020 master students majoring in subject teaching (history) at the second floor of Yifu International Conference Center in our school. The lecture was presided over by Professor Du Fang.
Through specific cases, Professor Ye Xiaobing expounded the problems that should be paid attention to in teaching design from eight aspects: teaching intention, teaching logic, teaching focus, core elements, narrative method, application of historical materials, historical connection and ideological education. He stressed that how well a class goes depends on the teaching design before the class.
In teaching design, teaching intention is the first to be considered. Professor Ye Xiaobing took the Bandung Conference as an example to put forward different levels of teaching ideas. Professor Ye pointed out that different teaching ideas determine teachers' organization of teaching contents, selection of teaching materials and determination of teaching focus. He harbored the idea that historical knowledge is not equal to historical knowledge, we should restore textbook knowledge to history. Then, Professor Ye put forward three logical lines of teaching process, namely teaching link, teaching content and students' cognition.
In the aspect of teaching focus, Professor Ye Xiaobing proposed that teachers should think about the two problems of "whether to find the teaching focus correctly or not" and "how to highlight the focus" in the teaching design, and reminded the majority of students that they must grasp the key points in teaching and bring them to the surface from point to point. Taking the lesson of "special economic zones" as an example, he expounded the basic core elements behind historical knowledge and emphasized the need to sort out the core elements of knowledge.
In terms of narrative methods and material using, he pointed out that an excellent history teacher must be a person who can tell historical stories well and the use of materials should be focused on the study and analysis, and it is necessary to put forward thinking problems for students. In the process of teaching, teachers should learn to tell history concretely and vividly, guide students to study and analyze materials, and understand history from the perspective of connection. Professor Ye divided the types of historical events that need to be connected into three categories: the historical events presented in the teaching materials, the historical events looming in the teaching materials, and the historical events not presented in the teaching materials, and pointed out that the connection and communication among plates, topics, and topics should be strengthened in the teaching design.
Finally, Professor Ye pointed out that teachers should think about the effectiveness of education and ideological education should be contained in the teaching content, and that the conclusion of ideas should be summed up by students themselves through taking the practical problems faced by young teachers as an example.
At the end of the lecture, Professor Ye Xiaobing gave five proverbs to the people who are new or about to be a history teachers: education is a science, we should follow the objective law. Education is an art, which requires individuality and creativity. Education is life which is concrete and diverse. Education is practice, which depends on real efforts. Education is a career, and we should pursue a higher realm. Professor Ye hoped that all of us here will make good use of the unified textbooks to achieve moral education and cultivate new people of the times.
In this lecture, the students listened carefully and asked questions actively, and gained a lot of skills and knowledge about middle school history teaching. This lecture ended with warm applause.
