Labor education is an important content of the education of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and it is also an important part of upholding enhanced morality and fostered talents and implementing core socialist values. Since selected as the pilot college of labor education in our university, in order to give full play to the practical effect in education of cultivating morality with labor, increasing wisdom with labor, strengthening body with labor and nurturing beauty with labor, School of Foreign Languages based on the actual situation of students cultivates students' concept of labor education in many aspects, strives to build an environment of labor education, realizes the normalization of labor education and promotes students' overall development. By organizing various labor activities such as playground and classroom cleaning and dormitory tidying up, the College makes full use of the role of labor education, improves the ideological and physical quality of college students, promotes the formation of a correct concept of labor, and allows students of the School of Foreign Languages to understand the spirit of labor and write a chapter of struggle.
"Beautiful campus build together with you "
On weekends, Youming Gymnasium is always bustling with spectators cheering for the athletes on the playground and also busy figures sweeping the trash from the aisles and carefully wiping the seats.
They are the members of labor education who participated in the "Beautiful campus build together with you" Youming Gymnasium cleaning activity. Every Saturday morning, they come to Youming Gymnasium to wipe off the dust and clean the trash from the bleachers that have been under the weather for a week. In each activity, the members are divided into three groups and the work division and cooperation among them ensures the quality of cleaning and improves the efficiency.
This semester, a total of 7 Youming Gymnasium cleaning activities were carried out, 214 members of labor education activities were recruited within the college, and 642 hours of labor education were provided. Through labor time and again, the students not only improved their communication skills, but also gained a sense of accomplishment and deepened their understanding of the spirit of labor.
"Take this journey with you"
Have you ever seen the trash that students had not taken away after class? Have you ever noticed the cleaning ladies cleaning the hallways? The cleanliness of classrooms is closely related to our learning life.
Every Sunday morning, the Labor Education members who participated in the "Take this journey with you" activity gathered in No.3 Teaching Building with their work tools and engaged in the classroom cleanup. They cleaned the blackboards, swept the trash, and organized the podiums...... members worked together, sweated, and contributed to the cleanliness of our building.
This semester, we have carried out 9 cleaning activities in No.3 Teaching Building, recruited 266 members from all over the college, and provided 798 hours of labor education. By participating in the cleaning activities in person, students not only experienced the difficulties of labor, but also realized the importance of respecting the fruits of others' labor.
Sanitation and cleaning of No.8 Teaching Building labor education activities
As a comprehensive teaching building, No.8 Teaching Building has many classrooms and a large flow of people. In order to create a clean and tidy environment for students, School of Foreign Languages organized volunteers to participate in cleaning activities in No.8 Teaching Building after school. This semester, we have carried out cleaning activities in No.8 Teaching Building for 7 times, recruited 142 members for labor education within the college, and provided 142 hours of labor education.
Labor education activities among the class of 2020
Various forms of labor education activities were also organized in all grades of the college. The students of class 2020 participated in 8 hours of "online + offline" labor education courses to enhance students' understanding of labor. To encourage students to create a safe, clean, hygienic and comfortable dormitory environment, and to enhance the cohesion of dormitory members through collective dormitory activities, a total of 12 dormitory labor education cleaning activities were organized in the 2019 and 2020 classes this semester, and 32 girls' dormitories and 6 boys' dormitories with excellent dormitory hygiene were selected, and prizes were awarded to the excellent dormitories for centralized display. Based on the actual needs of students, the college takes the practice of students as the means and the development of students as the purpose to promote "labor concept" into the brain and promote "labor education" to cultivate excellence and nurture talents.
Labor education is the first thing in mind and the most important thing in practice. The promotion of "five education" is an important part of education nowadays, and labor education is indispensable in it. School of Foreign Languages is actively exploring the scientific way of labor education to promote the correct“Three outlooks”among students. By insisting on the unity of knowledge and practice and implementing the practice of labor education, students of School of Foreign Languages will definitely establish their ambition with labor education and take the path of all-round development.
