Take Physics and Dreams with You to Set Sail: the First Graduate Teaching Innovation Competition of College of Physical Science and Technology Held Smoothly

The first graduate teaching innovation competition of College of Physical Science and Technology was successfully held on June 30. This activity was sponsored by the College of Physical Science and Technology and undertaken by the graduate Association of the College. Zhang Benwei, President of the College, Zhang Mingsheng, Secretary of the Party committee, Yu Yunwei, vice president, Cao Yang, deputy Secretary of the Party committee and other leaders attended the competition. The competition was divided into two groups A and B. The judges of group A were Feng Xiumei, Qiao Cuilan and Ling Yufeng. The judges of group B were Huang Zhixin, Cao Yang and Su Hang.



Group A of teaching innovation competition was held in room 515, building 9, and group B was held in room 557, building 9. A total of 43 graduate students from many majors, such as curriculum and teaching theory, subject teaching (Physics), particle physics, theoretical physics, astrophysics, information and communication engineering, participated in the teaching innovation competition. Students in accordance with the order of the competition, in turn on stage for 15 minutes of teaching simulation teaching, and five minutes of the judge teacher questions.




The students showed the teaching fragments of "electromagnetic induction phenomenon and application", "capacitance of capacitor", "Lenz's law", "diffraction of light", "free falling motion", "overweight and weightlessness" and other topics. Through self-made teaching aids, on-site experiments, and video recording, the teaching was vivid and interesting, the knowledge summary was clear, and the teaching language was lively.




Among them, the students in physics teaching showed solid basic teaching skills, and the classroom segment teaching embodied the teaching concepts of "from life to physics, from physics to society", as well as HPS and PBL. In the introduction, experimental teaching aids, PPT design and other aspects of teaching innovation, especially the effective integration of modern information technology and physics classroom, such as the Dislab sensor and mobile APP assisted teaching, all fully reflected the educational advantages of information technology.


Many contestants said that participating in the teacher skills competition was the first step of practical teaching. They have greatly improved their preparation, trial teaching and PPT production; the teacher's comments and suggestions let themselves see a lot of areas that still needed to be improved; in the process of watching the competition of other contestants, they also learned many new thoughts and ideas and saw more room for improvement; they hoped that in the future they will be a people's teacher with people in their eyes, virtue in their mouth, burden in their shoulders, love in their heart, ink in their belly and art in their hands.


In addition, many graduate students were invited to observe the forum. One student said that the teaching innovation competition made him experience the charm of physics and the difficulties for teachers to prepare before class. Teaching was not only the teaching of theoretical knowledge, but also how to arouse students' thirst for knowledge.


Some students said that in the whole competition, the players prepared very carefully, and many details reflected their earnest intention, which fully reflected that the teacher was the engineer of human soul. As a teacher, they should always treat teaching with a rigorous and serious attitude.




The teaching innovation competition lasted until 5 p.m. After the competition, Su Hang, Ling Yufeng, Huang Zhixin, Cao Yang and president Yu Yunwei made a summary speech in turn. The teachers expressed their recognition and affirmation of the contestants and emphasized that need to be  improved in the teaching process.


Su Hang teacher comments: I hope students pay attention to class control, PPT and physics experiment design. Promote the thinking of teaching, improve teaching skills, constantly pursue excellence, and improve knowledge quality by task.


Ling Yufeng teacher comments: I hope students pay attention to the differences between the teaching methods of the competition class and the ordinary class, and pay attention to how to choose the appropriate competition questions. At the same time, we should take the students as the main body and make a good summary of the class.


Huang Zhixin teacher comments: I hope students pay attention to the core quality of physics, to achieve a clear hierarchy, focus the key and break through the difficulties in teaching content, rationally use of network platform resources, from life to physics, from physics to society.


Then, Secretary Cao Yang of the College read out the awards and the commendation decision, and the judges and teachers presented the award certificates and prizes to the winners.




Finally, president Yu Yunwei of the College delivered a concluding speech. The competition provided a platform for students to learn, observe and show their teaching. The participants' teaching was clear, the teaching language was vivid and interesting, and the teaching state was natural, which fully demonstrated the teaching style of graduate students in the College. President Yu pointed out that through participating in the competition, our students' teaching innovation ability would be effectively improved, which would play a positive role in promoting the teaching reform. Such activities should continue, give full play to the characteristics of normal university, and encourage students to continue to participate in the next teaching innovation competition.
