On July 8, Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's memorial meeting was held. The memorial meeting would be held online and offline simultaneously. The main venue offline would be held in the conference room on the second floor of Yifu International Conference Center and the online would be held through the Zoom platform. Zhao Lingyun, Secretary of the Party committee of the University, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Experts and scholars from home and abroad, as well as Mr.Zhang’s students, made a speech. The school office, propaganda department, personnel department, retirement office, social science department, school trade union, alumni work and cooperation development office, archives, publishing house, the School of History and Culture, Institute of modern Chinese history, representatives of retired teachers, students and students attended. Representatives of Zhang Kaiyuan's wife Huang Huaiyu, his eldest daughter Zhang Mingming, his youngest daughter Zhang Xuemei, his cousin Zhang Kaihe and other relatives attended the online one. The memorial meeting was presided over by Vice President Peng nanshang.
Zhao Lingyun pointed out that Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan was a symbol of the spirit of CCNU, a model of contemporary intellectuals and a model of Chinese Communist Party members. His voice, face, smile and spiritual style had been integrated into the scenery of CCNU, and had been printed and dyed every minute of students of CCNU’s time. Professor Ma min, a disciple of Mr. Zhang, put forward the proposition of "Zhang Kaiyuan spirit". Zhang Kaiyuan's spirit is the spirit of great teacher, which is the sum of excellent qualities such as strength, wisdom, vitality, love and low-key. When studying the centennial history of the Communist Party of China and looking back on the centennial history of the school, we cherished the memory of Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan.
Zhao Lingyun pointed out that recalling Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan was also to remember the past, carry forward Mr. Zhang's spirit and create a better future. The first one is to condense Mr. Zhang’s spirit, which is to condense Mr. Zhang’s scholar style of pursuing truth, his student-centered education feelings, his national responsibility of serving the country, and his magnanimous sage style. It should be integrated into the school motto of "seeking truth and innovation, establishing morality and cultivating people", the spirit of "loyalty, erudition, simplicity and fortitude", and the culture of "erudition, erudition and fraternity". Second, we should inject Mr. Zhang’s spirit into all aspects of talent cultivation, scientific research, social service and cultural inheritance, into all places of school roads, buildings and squares, and more importantly, into all fields of campus culture construction, so that Mr. Zhang's spirit can become the spiritual nourishment and cultural soil for the school to build morality and cultivate people. The third is to inherit the spirit of Mr. Wang. We should carry forward the spirit of pursuing truth, independence and preciseness in academic research, the management wisdom of innovation and openness in running a school, the ambition of cultivating talents in the world, and the pursuit of fame and wealth and low-key dedication in teachers' ethics.
Zhao Lingyun stressed that learning and carrying forward the "Zhang Kaiyuan’s spirit" would be a systematic project and an important work of the school. At present, the school had set up a special working class headed by Vice President Peng Nanshan, which would give special support in teacher, material and financial resources to ensure the completion of the work on schedule. Zhao Lingyun hoped that all the teachers and alumni would study, inherit and carry forward Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's excellent character and lofty spirit, live up to his ardent expectations and deep instructions to our students, and work together to build a world-class university with leading teacher education.

Online guests Zhou Xirui, Rao Huaimin, Zhao Jun, Yu Heping, Sang Bing, Ma Xiaoquan, Wang Jie, Feng Zuyi, Feng Tianyu, Shen Jie, Wang Di, Mao Haijian, Xu Siyan, Luo Zhitian, Zhang Xuwu, Lin Zhiping, Zhou Huimin, Pei Jinghan, Takeshi Hamashita, Tetichi Kada, Tao Demin, Zhang Shenxin, Lu peipeipeipei, Xu Minli and others spoke successively. Everyone recalled Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's touching deeds and unforgettable past with deep feelings, and spoke highly of Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's lofty integrity and noble personality. In the process of telling the story and spirit of Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan, many guests choked and burst into tears.
Professor Ma min, director of the Institute of modern Chinese history, made a concluding speech and reported on Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's affairs after dead. He said that with the support of the university, the Institute of modern Chinese history was compiling and publishing the commemorative works of Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan, the biography of Zhang Kaiyuan's paintings, the chronicle of Zhang Kaiyuan, the records of Zhang menxue and the complete works of Zhang Kaiyuan, and wolud cooperate with the University in the construction of Mr. Zhang Kaiyuan's literature and history museum.
