Implement the Plan and Arrange Reasonably
In order to effectively carry out the undergraduate dissertation defense work of 2021, according to the work requirements of the CCNU and the undergraduate college, the college has successively discussed the form, time arrangement, grouping and other issues of the graduates' dissertation, formulated the work plan for the undergraduate dissertation defense of 2021 in the School of Politics and International Studies, and organized more than 20 professional teachers to act as the defense judges. Combined with the differences of majors and topics, the 2021 undergraduate students were divided into six defense groups to ensure the smooth progress of the defense work.
Standardized Links, Calm Defence
Students defended their dissertation according to three links: personal statement, judges' questions and students' answers. Students reported the writing of graduation dissertation, focusing on the basis of topic selection and research significance; basic ideas and main contents; the main innovation and deficiency; the research materials or experiments. The chairman presided over the process, organized the judges to ask questions and score, and read out the results of the defense. The Defense Secretary played an important role in preparation, material collection and information filling. Professor Huang Huixiang, vice president, went to the scene of each defense to check the guidance. The whole defense process was standardized and orderly, and all the students replied calmly.
Careful Guidance and Strict Quality Control
In 2019, as 2017's undergraduates entered the third year of university, the School assigned professional tutors to each student, fully implementing the undergraduate tutorial system. Before the defense, the tutors and the students have always maintained close contact, through on-site guidance, Wechat contact, video phone and other ways to guide and modify the graduate's dissertation for many times. During the defense, the judges and teachers made comments around the structural framework, the logic of the article and other issues, gave careful guidance to the format specification of the paper, pointed out the improvement direction for the graduates, and enhanced the students' in-depth understanding of the research problems.
Youth Is Setting, Future Can Be Expected
At the end of the defense, the students took a group photo with the judges. Fubeiya, a student majoring in international politics, said: during the defense process, the teachers were amiable, the questions were clear, and the suggestions were to the point. After the defense, I will communicate with the instructor the existing problems, seriously revise, and strive to draw a perfect end to my college life. Dong Shiyi, majoring in political science and administration, mentioned that every presentation on stage was an exercise for herself, especially for graduation defense. In the process of defense, the teachers put forward many suggestions and opinions for the details of the paper, which provided direction for me to further improve the paper. Foreign student (undergraduate) Zhou Cheng said after the end of the defense: “I am proud that the dissertation defense passed smoothly, and thank my family, friends and teachers. ”
Graduation dissertation defense is the last "examination" in the university stage. It is an important teaching link to achieve the goal of undergraduate education and a comprehensive test of students' comprehensive quality and ability. The smooth holding of this defense has drawn a satisfactory end to the phased graduate work of our School.
