The Voice of CCNU On the afternoon of May 14th the 4th Mandarin training class began in the No.106 Classroom of the complex teaching building in Nanhu Campus, which was given by the leader of the mandarin expression guidance group , specifically for the normal students, Zhou Kai.
As the lecture started, Zhou Kai demonstrated: “It is actually rare for the existence of the perfect cases, however, today let’s finish our training perfectly.”This class mainly contained 4 parts, including the change of the tones, the introduction of Mandarin test, the process of the test as well as the practical test-taking skills. Then the lecturer explained the way to take this exam, the patterns of the questions, the requirements and our preparation in details, making the participants be aware of the formal examinations. Afterwards, Zhou Kai began the last training part, the change of the tones, which totally contained rising intonation, the use of the soft voice, rhotic accent, in the meantime, the tonic change of the words “一”and “不”. After the general teaching, he made the students practice this part in particular, which indicated the charm of Chinese.
As the teaching part has been finished, Zhou Kai made a quick review of all of the key points, approximately consisting of what is mandarin, the testing centers, the criteria of the level setting, and meanwhile, the patterns of the questions, in order to make the students be aware of the test overall. After revising the main content of the lessons, Zhou Kai introduced the process as well as the preparation for the exam. He especially stressed the importance of the check for the personal information before the test, which may lead to the miss of the grades.
Eventually, he summarized some of the test-taking skills. For the first two questions, he emphasized that don’t repeat the answer, which might lower your score, since the records would be recognized by the computers. Then, when it comes to the reading part, he invited several participants to take a practice lively and pointed out the problems of theirs. Beside, he provided his suggestions for the free talk specifically, the part which most of the students had been concerned about. He also mentioned that the diverse topics are actually could be replied by the same point of view. When our students were asked for their feeling for the last time training, most of them said they have gained a lot from these classes and now they are more confident of the Mandarin test.
