This is not only an innovative move of the school to solve problems and do practical things for teachers and students, but also a special holiday gift for all teaching staff on the occasion of the 37th teachers' day.
Lin Wenshu, Secretary of Hongshan District Party committee of Wuhan City, Fang Zhixiu, general manager of Hubei region of Fujian Xiangxing group, Zeng Haiyan, deputy general manager of State Grid Wuhan power supply company, Zhao Lingyun, Secretary of the University Party committee, Hao Fanghua, President, Ren Youzhou, vice president, and heads of relevant functional departments, teachers and students representatives, staff representatives and representatives of the construction unit witnessed the opening of the south gate together. The ceremony was presided over by Ren Youzhou. At the simple and grand ceremony, the leaders of the four sides presented flowers to the representatives of old teachers and extended their best wishes for teachers' day. Zhao Lingyun announced that the South Gate of central China Normal University was completed.
Hao Fanghua said in her speech that the improvement of the traffic environment at the south gate was not only the practical achievement of the school in learning Party history, understanding ideas, doing practical things and opening a new situation, but also another great achievement of the whole CCNUs' efforts to open a new journey of high-quality development with a high attitude. With the opening of the south gate, the university will continue to rely on the care and support of the local government and the enthusiastic assistance of all sectors of society, unite and lead teachers and students to stride forward towards a world-class university with leading teacher education.
The New South Gate draws on the concise and generous architectural forms of Wenhua academy, Huazhong University and the old gate of Zhonghua University in the history of the University, and integrates the classic national style of Building 1 and building 2 of CCNU. Plaques and school emblems with gold characters on green background are hung on the front and back respectively, and the CCNU spirit of "Loyalty, Elegance, Simplicity and Fortitude" and the CCNU’s motto of "pragmatic innovatio, moral education" are engraved on both sides in seal script form fully shows the inheritance and adherence of the culture and spirit of more than 100 years. Out of the south gate, on Guiyuan road to Nanhu campus, the gray muddy road in the past has become a dark asphalt road, the narrow sidewalk in the past has become a spacious lane, and the old and fuzzy identification lines in the past have become very clear.
Since the launch of the study and education of party history, the school has carried out close cooperation with Hongshan District, Wuhan, adhered to the close combination of learning and education with solving practical problems, aimed at the most concerned, direct and realistic problems of teachers and students, and carried out a series of "doing practical things, solving problems and benefiting the people's livelihood" such as the reconstruction of the pedestrian overpass of Xiongchu Avenue, the widening of Guiyuan Road, the design and construction and design of the South Gate. At present, the two sides are further strengthening district school cooperation, strengthening the implementation of practical projects for people's livelihood, and striving to create a better living environment for teachers and students. In the process of "doing practical things and solving difficult problems" for teachers and students, many enterprises also showed a high sense of social responsibility. Fujian Xiangxing group, founded in 1985, has developed into the world's largest luggage manufacturing enterprise and China's largest linen textile enterprise. While running the industry well, Xue Xingyuan, President of Xiangxing group, with a strong sense of education, generously donated a wholly-owned capital to build the New South Gate of our school. The State Grid Wuhan power supply company volunteered to relocate dozens of poles along the line in order to widen the road and facilitate the travel of surrounding teachers and students.
"Very happy! Very excited!" Xu Hanyun, a retired teacher of the School of Physical Education and Sports who witnessed the official opening of the south gate, could not hide his excitement. As a teacher who stayed in school since 1976 and often needed to pass through Nanhu campus and the Guizi Mountain campus, she witnessed the whole change of south gate from the original gravel land and muddy road to the magnificent and elegant new Nanmen, and deeply felt the national and local support for education and the development of various undertakings of the school.
Xia Yixin, a sophomore living in Nanhu campus, said excitedly: "in the past, the road was too narrow, the lights were dim at night and the mud was serious in rainy days, which brought great inconvenience to the travel of teachers and students. Now, the road traffic between the two campuses is more convenient and safe, and we no longer need to worry about the travel problems in special periods such as rainy days and nights."
