The Voice of CCNU On July 16, 2023, I and the school party committee, the deputy director of the student work department, the director of the Affairs Department Yang Jun, the People's Armed Forces Department, Lv Jianping teacher from Wuhan departed for Xinjiang to visit a unit of Tang Lixiang two years after leaving school.
Tang Lixiang lives in Tangtian Town, Shaoyang County, Hunan Province, and grew up in poverty. Her parents were both farmers, but her father died of an illness and her mother became bedridden, adding to the family's already poor situation. "Why did you come to be a soldier?" I remember when Tang Lixiang was asked this question, she said, "It was with the help of the national government that I was able to get into a major university with excellent grades." Having experienced a life of hardship and poverty, she possessed a heart of gratitude and a heart to repay society and the country. She resolutely chose to become a soldier, to go to the most difficult, the motherland's most needy places, with the most beautiful "camouflage youth" to serve the motherland.
More than three thousand kilometres on the road, I saw Tang Lixiang the fatigue was gone, and the mood was excited. In front of me, this small female soldier has faded from the former youthfulness and ignorance, dark skin reflects the will of steel. I was very pleased that, after more than two years of army life, she became her dream model: a thin girl, to overcome the raging wind and sand in Xinjiang, night and day to complete the homemade physical training: push-ups, flat support, sit-ups, curls ...... She has grown into a female soldier rich in military blood. In 2022, she won the Xinjiang Military Region Army Science and Technology Competition, and was awarded the "Four Outstanding Soldiers" and the Commendation Award for the year 2022-2023. She was also honored as one of the ninth "Yangtze River Scholars" in Hubei Province.
Minister Yang presented the award document of "Yangtze River Scholar" to Tang Lixiang, congratulated her joyfully on her achievement, affirmed her hard work, self-discipline, and self-improvement in the army, and encouraged her: "Lixiang, you will be discharged from the army and return to school in September this year, so you have to stand on the last post well and do not change the style of the army when you return to school. You have to play the role of ex-college students as an exemplary model, and contribute youthful strength to the development of the school and the prosperity of the country." After receiving the document, she immediately stood up and saluted, "Thank you for Minister Yang's teaching, I will keep it in mind."
Her platoon leader introduced Tang Lixiang's situation in the army and praised her, "Lixiang is willing to work hard, is good at heart, and actively uses her professional expertise and propaganda skills. The army needs soldiers like her, and we don't want her to be discharged."
Teacher Lu also praised, "Lixiang, you are a role model for CCNUer! During the two years in Xinjiang, you have shown the spirit of CCNU, we are proud of you and hope you will keep up the good work!"
"The teachers and students of the institution miss you very much and are waiting for you to come home. Seeing your growth and the honors you have achieved in this school of the army, as the deputy secretary of the college, I feel very gratified, and I also hope that you can do a good job of subsequent academic planning before returning to school, play a good role as an ex-college student's exemplary leader, and grow up to be an excellent socialist builder and successor." While talking, I conveyed the greetings and hopes of the teachers and students of the college. Lixiang thought for a moment, and very seriously replied: "Secretary Pan, thank you for the leadership of the college teachers and classmates of my care and concern, these two years of military life, it is you who give me the strength to move forward, the college motto also always inspire me. You can rest assured that after returning to school I will continue to work hard and show the style of a veteran and a young man of the political state."
After the return trip, we received from Li Xiang nearly a thousand words of feedback, which wrote: "I finally met the teachers of the college two years apart, these emotions can not be said, are blocked in the chest, several times the eyes are sour, and finally turned into a sentence, I want to tell the teachers, 'I did it'. I always remember the school on my high hopes and expectations, on the road I always maintain the posture of hard work and progress, in my position to win medals. I shed my youthfulness, and confidently and confidently stood in front of the teachers, capturing the relief and pride in their eyes. The perseverance and firmness in those harsh winters and hot summers, the groping forward in those days of uncertainty, the bearing of those who fought for honor, all of it is worth it. After reading it, my mood could not be calmed for a long time, this heavy letter reveals the loyalty and responsibility of the students of the School of Politics and International Relations.
